Lancashire Rock says a kilometer along the Lancashire/ Yorkshire border wall from the road when it was more like 2, we also spent a good hour trying to find it but that was largely down to our incompetence!
The crag is relatively small but its got quite a good range of climbing from pretty steep wall and roof climbs to the more chilled out style slab climbing, not too many signs of other climbers due to the remoteness, fantastic views over the forest of Bowland and Stocks reservoir and great views into the Yorkshire Dales.
We started off on the aptly named jack the ripper, (HVS), about 7 meters, and then did jack it up, (S), and finished with Jolly Jack Tar, (HVS), which was a bit of a mess for me personally. left a fair few layers of skin and blood on it and plenty of whinging throughout, nevertheless extremely satisfying on completion! Would have liked to have climbed more but it had been a while since I've climbed on grit and my girlie hands weren't up to it! (plus it started raining).
A windy, tiring day out, but well worth the long and boggy approach time! check it out.
